The Cottages

Higher Checkridge Farm consists of two beautiful properties, both south facing and charming in their own unique ways. With flagstone floors, beams and inglenook fireplace, these spacious period cottages make perfect holiday accommodation.

Outside one can enjoy the picturesque views of fields and woodland, and children can play in the adventure playground. This non-working farm is home to an abundance of wildlife including deer, badgers, foxes and owls.

Staying Busy

Higher Checkridge Farm is surrounded by an almost limitless number of activities and things to do.

There is a variety of nearby seaside resorts to visit including, Charmouth, Eype, Beer, Seatown, Branscombe, Sidmouth. Notable attractions nearby include, Forde Abbey and Gardens, Pecorama, Crealy Adventure Park, Seaton’s Jurassic Centre, and Gateway Theatre.

Celebrity chef and TV presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has his first River Cottage Canteen and Deli (an organic produce shop/market and canteen) at the nearby market town of Axminster, just 3 miles away.

There are water activities such as boat trips, fishing, swimming, diving, sailing and wind surfing, fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast and exhilarating walks along the coastal paths with its beautiful scenery, particularly from the top of Golden Cap with its commanding views over Lyme Bay from Portland to Torquay. Golf nearby. Shop and village pub 1 mile, country hotel/restaurant ½ mile.
